Gatorade has a storied history of supporting athletes as they’ve evolved and changed over the years. As the athletes and the games themselves change, so has Gatorade. The brand’s latest campaign pays homage to that, as “Moving the Game Forward” takes a look at their changing needs.

Described by their press release, “As the brand looks ahead to the next 50 years, this ad will give consumers a peek at a few innovations that will revolutionize the way athletes fuel. We’ll be sharing more information on these innovations in 2016!”

You can see one of the innovations towards the end of the video, as an athlete is drinking a Gatorade that has an electronic device on the top, presumably a way to customize the drink to an individual athlete’s needs. That’s an assumption, but if that’s the idea, it’s a tremendous step forward in the world of sports.

Every athlete needs something different, as the local YMCA weekend warrior doesn’t require the same kind of rehydration and rejuvenation as a professional athlete. The Gatorade Sports Science Institute is always looking forward to develop new ways to get athletes exactly what they need.

The ad is predictably terrific, featuring basketball stars Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat, Jabari Parker of the Milwaukee Bucks and Elena Delle Donne of the Chicago Sky, along with a who’s who from around the world of sports.
