Every NBA Team’s 2015-16 Musical Anthem
The 2015-16 NBA season is upon us, with all 30 teams at their respective training camps. They’ll work on schemes, they’ll develop chemistry and they’ll identify an identity for the season. We’ve scoured the music landscape (both past and present) to find passages that fit each team’s identity.
Music and the NBA go hand in hand. There’s music in the lockerroom, there’s music pregame, during the game, after the game — it’s everywhere. Ballers have always seemed to trend towards the music industry, with guys like Damian Lillard trying to make his own name in the music industry.
Musicians are tied to NBA franchises, as well, with Drake and Jay-Z attached to the Toronto Raptors and Brooklyn Nets, respectively.
This list is less about the meaning of the entire song and more about the specific passage that was chosen. It’s extremely subjective and my personal interpretation will certainly be different. You’ll find every kind of music on here, from lesser known rap to R&B to 1960’s rock to today’s hits.
I also didn’t make a point to matchup “local” artists to their teams.
