Phoenix Suns blog Bright Side of the Sun recently released an article talking about a possible trade involving the Indiana Pacers’ small forward Paul George. Although is it just a scenario, it has caused quite a scene with Pacer fans on social media. The trade would include four teams: Indiana Pacers, Phoenix Suns, New York Knicks, and the Philadelphia 76ers. Here’s how the trade was broken down and who would go where:

Phoenix: Paul George

Indiana: Markieff Morris, Alex Len, T.J. Warren, 2016 1st round pick, and 2021 1st round pick

New York: George Hill, 2016 2nd round pick

Philadelphia: Jose Calderon, Archie Goodwin, C.J. Miles, 2016 1st round pick, and 2017 2nd round pick

Would this trade ever happen? No. To start off, why would the Pacers completely blow up their roster, after shaping it specifically to fit George and the small ball style of play? Before his leg injury, George was becoming one of the premier players in the NBA. You don’t just trade him away like that. Yes, the players that Phoenix is offering are solid contributors, but they would only make the team successful if they had a franchise player alongside them. If they traded George, they would have no franchise player.

Now it is still the case in the NBA that the best TEAM wins championships, but you also need that dominant player who has the ability to take over a game in the postseason. This trade would be setting Indiana back even further than they are.

If rookie Myles Turner can produce at all like he did in Summer League, the Pacers will undoubtedly make the playoffs when considering other players such as George, Monta Ellis, and George Hill, all of which have experienced high-pressure games. In the end, this trade makes no sense for more than just one reason.

So Pacer Nation, settle down. Your superstar isn’t going anywhere.
