The Boston Celtics and general manager Danny Ainge are always looking to improve their team, even if that means trading away some of their best assets. Since the Celtics have traded away many different players, and draft picks, it is sometimes hard to tell who has the most trade value on the Celtics. There are a few players on the Celtics that have great trade value, but there are not many.

Marcus Smart

Smart had a terrific rookie debut for the Celtics last season, were he made huge impact for the team on both ends of the floor. Smart is only 21 years old, and he has ideal size for the point guard/two-guard position. He is a very physical guard, who is a hound on the defensive end, which is why he probably has the best trade value.

His youth and potential is what makes Smart so intriguing to other teams looking for a young franchise point guard to be. If the Celtics want to ship Smart out for some reason, they should get some great players or high draft picks in return.

David Lee

Lee is a very interesting trade asset because of his ability to score on the offensive end and because he is a proven frontcourt player who can compete with some of the best defenders in the league.

Many people might think that Lee’s game has declined since he has grown older, but he still has the ability to average a double-double on any team other than the Golden State Warriors, who did not really use Lee that much until the playoffs. Lee is a little shaky on the defensive end, but there are plenty of team like the Celtics that could use Lee.

Lee could attract a lot of playoff teams who need a low-post scorer.

Isaiah Thomas

Thomas was a breath of fresh air for the Celtics last season because of his elite shot-making ability. He can shoot from just about anywhere on the court, and he can come off the bench and produce with anyone on the court.

Thomas could literally fit on any team that needs a sixth man off the bench, espcially playoff teams looking to add depth to their bench. Thomas is a little undersize for a guard, which is why he struggles on the defensive end, but he does not struggle at getting a shot off from outside or in the paint.

The Celtics could make some moves

The team currently has many draft picks to offer in trades and the team could offer either Smart, Lee, or Thomas with some of those picks to try and land a great player. The Celtics do have a bunch of role players on their roster, but they also have players with pretty good trade value if Ainge ever wanted to make a move.

These players will probably be in Celtics uniform for all of next season, and if they have a good season, their value will be even higher.
