After the Brooklyn Nets‘ interesting offseason, we can confidently say two things: 1) The Nets made some smart moves this summer and 2) Brooklyn will still probably be a worse team in 2015-16 than they were last year.

After years of dealing with the aftermath of owner Mikhail Prokhorov’s decision to go all in and splurge on a “title contender,” general manager Billy King finally took more of a long-term approach to the offseason. The results were mixed on an individual level, but the Nets might finally be on the right path overall.

With Deron Williams, Mirza Teletovic and Alan Anderson all gone, the Nets lost a few of their most important players. Even if their ceiling was a fringe playoff team, the loss of those contributors will set Brooklyn back in 2015-16. No one but the Philadelphia 76ers is out of contention for the playoff spot in the lowly Eastern Conference, but this long-term approach will probably cost the Nets a realistic shot at the postseason.

Still, there’s reason for optimism for the first time in years for this franchise. In that spirit, it’s time to take a look back on every move they made this summer with comprehensive offseason grades.
