NBA Power Rankings: Top 10 Power Forwards Thus Far
By Shane Young
Throughout the NBA, we’ve not only been accustomed to change, but we’ve also been getting used to something else: Young talent rising. In NBA Power Rankings, it’s time to mix the two together.
With the power forward position, it’s likely been the one spot on the floor where you can have old and grizzled veterans remaining at the top of their games, while also mixing in the youth of the league rising to overtake everyone. The quintessential example has come from this 2014-15 season, in which we’ve been awed by the roaring of Anthony Davis and Blake Griffin, while also stunned at how old 36+ year old legends can continue to stay relevant.
While point guards and centers are typically your most important positions on the floor that garner the most attention on scouting reports, it’s not to say that the other three aren’t significant. Power forwards, more than any other spot, have the ability to change the complexion of a game.
If you’re a “stretch four,” you can give defenses a complete nightmare they want to erase forever. If you’re a post-up player, it slows down the pace and makes the opposition play your way.
Who have been the most impressive power forwards so far this season?
If you had to narrow it to 10, which big men have been the most complete as we near the 30 percent mark of the regular season? Let’s find out.
