A recap of Thursday night’s NBA action from a fantasy basketball perspective.

Star of the night: Houston Rockets guard James Harden

  • It looked like it would be a decent night and it turned into a great night for Harden in their overtime win against the Sacramento Kings. Harden sunk a three with 20 seconds left in regulation to extend the game and took full advantage of the extra five minutes dropping 12 of Houston’s 18 points. Harden finished with 44 points on 13-of-32 shooting, made 13-of-15 free throws, connected on three from deep and added eight assists, four rebounds, three steals plus a block. He also only had two turnovers. During the past 11 games with Dwight Howard out Harden has averaged 29 points, six assists, six rebounds on 46 percent shooting.  Dwight is expected back on Saturday.

No Don’t Do that Bad Bad Bad: Sacramento Kings forward Rudy Gay

  • Toronto Raptors Rudy Gay decided to make an appearance for the Kings last night. Gay shot 4-for-18 from the field, 1-for-4 from three and turned the ball over four times. He somewhat salvaged his night with eight assists and eight rebounds. Gay has been excellent for you in fantasy this season and one bad night doesn’t make that go away. Stay the course as Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra would say.

Don’t you dare scare me like that: Cleveland Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving

  • In the second quarter of Cavs-Thunder Kyrie Irving went down with what seemed like could be a bad knee injury. Luckily it was a false alarm. Irving started the half and even though it wasn’t his best night came way with what seems like a clean bill of health. He got his 20 points, but it came on 7-of-21 shooting and he only made one three. Irving you’re not allowed to scare us like that again, thanks.

It’s becoming a thing: Cleveland Cavaliers guard Dion Waiters

  • Waiters putting up decent stat lines is developing into a pattern. He has three straight double digit efforts after reaching 10 points only five of the team’s first 18 games. Waiters has also connected on 6-of-16 three-pointers and compiled 10 assists. In 12 team leagues I’d go ahead in get him back on a roster.
