NBA News: New State of the Art Replay Center Opened
By Evan Massey
The NBA has officially opened a new state of the art replay center that is located in Secaucus, NJ. This facility will help the performance of NBA referees by allowing them to review multiple camera angles on one screen at the same time. It certainly makes a lot of sense after all of the close calls during the playoffs last year, and will help games be called more correctly and quickly.
NBA President of Basketball Operations Rod Thorn talked about the new replay center in a league press release.
“The new state-of-the-art NBA Replay Center will not only help our officials get more calls correct by giving them enhanced views of the action, but will also help them do their jobs in a more expeditious manner.”

This facility will serve as the primary hub for all reviewable video. When an NBA replay circumstance comes around, on-court officials are able to review the play in question by communicating directly with the replay center. After that review, the crew chief on the court will make the final call.
Obviously this is a great step forward for the NBA and will help more calls be made correctly. There have been quite a few games in the past that have come down to clutch calls late in the game, and some fans have felt that the incorrect call was made. Adam Silver is taking the NBA forward in a big way, and this new replay center will be a great addition for the league.
