More from Boston Celtics

When the regular season opens for the Boston Celtics, they’ll find themselves in the same spot they were in last season.

Rebuilding mode or “league purgatory” is a comfortable situation for young players and anxious territory for veterans.

In most cases a mix of youth and veteran talent is a good thing, however the Celtics will be left to debate parsing out their veterans to go with a completely young team, or take time to fill in the gaps in the next few years. Either way, having a clear understanding of the most and least talented players is crucial.

When trying to shed the fat, knowing who’s expendable is always the top priority.
