New Orleans Pelicans: Meet Patric Young

Summer is almost over and before we know it, the NBA season will be upon us once again. Until then, I am relegated to writing about Patric Young and his epic YouTube videos. Enjoy.

The video above shows Young doing his best Jimmy Graham impression. First off, let us all applaud the choice of music for this production; it was really the ultimate tone setter. Secondly, take a second and marvel at Young’s physique because the dude is a stallion. And lastly, he doesn’t look all that terrible!

Besides the initial waddling when he first comes out of his break, Young looks like he could be a viable jump-ball tight end with proper coaching. He even felt the need to throw in a Heisman pose at the 1:00 mark and the random point of view camera angles throughout the video are a nice touch.

For all of his excellence as potentially the next great NFL tight end, the 2:45 mark shows that he will never be a great quarterback. He resembles a former Florida quarterback, Mr. Tim Tebow.

Patric decided that restricting his talents to just basketball and football was not enough so he took a shot with the women’s volleyball team. Young seemed much more out of his element this time, shown by his poor toss when he attempted his first jump serve. Things got progressively worse serving wise, as he looked like a ballerina flying through the air around the 1:30 mark.

The use of LMAO’s Party Rock as background music during this sequence makes the viewing experience that much better. Whoever was in charge of the soundtrack for these videos deserves a raise.

To no surprise, the strength of Young’s volleyball game is his hitting ability. He soars over the net and drops the hammer with the best of them. The weakness of Young’s volleyball game was everything else. But to be fair, digging a spike can’t be the easiest thing to do.

Hopefully watching these videos has given you a better idea of the kind of easy-going person Patric Young is and at the very least he seems to be a good locker room guy for the Pelicans. He may be undersized for his position at the NBA level, but his physique could possibly atone for his vertical shortcomings. The best case scenario is that he is a Dejuan Blair type player.

Regardless of his professional success, he will always be remembered for giving us a little dose of his all-around athletic talents with party music in the background.
