Part of the fun of the NBA’s offseason is that it gives us a chance to sit back and look at each player’s body of work. There are no streaks to consider, no hot stretches that are skewing our view of each player and no long losing streaks that cloud our judgement. It’s us, the stats and video — and a great time to do some NBA Power Rankings of the most overrated players in the NBA.

What makes a player overrated? He must be pumped up artificially by one way or another — perhaps his team treats him like gold, maybe he’s one of the media’s darlings or maybe even the fans happen to hold onto the player’s legacy as if it’s a sign of things to come. The players on this list will all fit under one of those categories but fail to live up to their billing.

We had a couple of players suggested on Twitter, some that were ridiculous (Dwight Howard), some that made a little bit of sense (James Harden) and others that barely missed the list (Ricky Rubio). Let’s count down from 10 as we look at the most overrated players in the game.

All stats taken from basketball-reference.com unless otherwise noted.
