Somehow, even without playing a single game, the Boston Celtics have already been counted out of the playoff mix for next year. While it is true that the Eastern Conference has appeared to have exponentially improved this offseason, the seeding is still very-much wide-open, especially the seventh and eighth spots.

After the Phoenix Suns saw the success they did in such a competitive West last year, it seems a bit dense to already throw labels on to teams that look quite different from the prior season. Thus, the Celtics can’t be pinned as a surefire lottery club just yet.

Whether or not the Cs see some success this season will depend on a number of factors, but here are the top five.
