The Summer of 2015

Greg Monroe may not have enjoyed his experience of free agency this summer, but next year should be a totally different story. As an unrestricted free agent Monroe will get to experience the full force of having organizations and general managers fawning over him.

The unrestricted status should help him to receive an even greater pay day than he could have hoped for this summer, and as one of the highest profile players to hit the market in 2015, Monroe will likely have his pick of destinations to choose from. As Tom Ziller of SB Nation highlighted yesterday, since 2003, Spencer Hawes is the only one of 13 players to sign a qualifying offer, and then re-sign with the same team the next summer. So, chances are this would mean goodbye to Detroit.
