The Los Angeles Lakers are coming off of an incredibly bad season last year, and are not too overly optimistic about the upcoming season after a fairly disappointing summer. There are some positives about the upcoming season, however, and the major one being that Kobe Bryant will be coming back off of injury.

Los Angeles was hoping to make some moves in free agency, but they were unable to make any splashes, and their biggest addition ended up being point guard Jeremy Lin.

There are many concerns in the rotation for the Lakers, but they do have some talent as well. They picked up Carlos Boozer off of waivers from the Chicago Bulls, and they also drafted power forward Julius Randle out of Kentucky.

It’s not likely that they’ll end up making the playoffs this season, but there are some exciting pieces to keep an eye on this year.

Los Angeles has definitely become a Clippers-owned town, but the Lakers are beginning a brand new era under new head coach Byron Scott. He has had success with younger teams in the past, and took this job knowing that the Lakers will be a work in progress.

The Lakers have plenty of money to spend next offseason, and could be back in playoff contention as early as next season.

What five bold predictions can be made about the 2014-15 Lakers?
