Point Guard Play

McCallum’s rookie season offered up promising signs of his ability to develop into a true floor general. McCallum’s assist numbers may not have been the highest, but perhaps more importantly at his current stage of development, he rarely turned the ball over.

In just less than 20 minutes per game, McCallum averaged 2.7 assists and only 0.9 turnovers. An assist to turnover ratio of 3.0 is a healthy start for a point guard’s career, but the next step needs to see him increase his assists, while still keeping turnovers in check.
