The Atlanta Hawks were one of the biggest surprises in the NBA last season, and ended up pushing the Indiana Pacers to a seven-game series in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs. First year head coach Mike Budenholzer was impressive, and was able to fight through losing star big man Al Horford early on in the season. He was able to implement an offense that focused on the 3-point shot, and that made it very difficult for most teams to defend.

Atlanta is looking to take the next step this coming season, and they have put together a very intriguing roster. Their main issue last season was defense, and they brought in former Oklahoma City defensive genius Thabo Sefolosha to help that weakness. The Hawks were also able to sign Kent Bazemore, who showed great potential last season with the Lakers. He is a 3-point shooter who has lanky arms and the ability to get into passing lanes and disrupt opposing offenses.

There is no doubt that the moves that the Hawks made this offseason will improve their team, but they may have a bit more work to do before they’re able to compete in a very tough Eastern Conference. That being said, there is enough talent on the team that they will give most teams a tough opponent each and every night. What five bold predictions are there to be made about the 2014-15 Hawks?
