Chris Bosh Rumors: Houston Rockets Would Be a Dream Fit
More Money
Under the rules of the CBA, a player’s original team can offer more money than any other team in the league. As reports flow in, the common theme appears to be that the Heat are not looking to give Bosh a max contract or anything in the real neighborhood of it.
With no state income tax in Florida or Texas, that means Bosh would make more money with the four-year, $88 million offer from the Rockets than he would in five years with the Heat.
There’s always the chance that Miami gives Bosh the money he’s looking for, and that shouldn’t be ruled out as a possibility. Until that transpires and Miami sacrifices its potential depth for its stars—again—the Rockets offer Bosh the best chance to make money.
That matters.
Bosh is 30 years and could be accepting the final max contract of his career. He’s already 11 seasons in and, by the time his deal with Houston or Miami is finished, he’d either be 34 or 35 years old and entering season 16 or 17 of his career.
While he can, Bosh would be in the right to accept as much money as is made available to him.
