Jeff Ayres, Marco Belinelli, Austin Daye, Boris Diaw, Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, Danny Green, Cory Joseph, Kawhi Leonard, Patrick Mills, Tony Parker and Tiago Splitter all appear to be a part of the San Antonio Spurs roster next season.
If Daye returns, though, he might be the biggest surprise. According to Nick Borges of ESPN.com last Monday, Daye was expected to be waived by the Spurs allowing the silver and black the flexibility to add one more free agent.
Daye, a 6’11” small forward out of Gonzaga, came over last year to San Antonio midseason from the Toronto Raptors for a disgruntled Nando De Colo. Considering Daye only averaged 6.7 minutes per game during the regular season, it is a little perplexing he wasn’t released before July 1, the start of free agency.
