Let the madness begin.

2014′s free agency period has officially started, and already, agents and executives are exchanging numbers. Some teams, namely the New York Knicks and Miami Heat, are trying to retain their own stars, while others, like the Chicago Bulls and Phoenix Suns, are doing their very best to snatch up–for their own clubs–those very same players.

Aside from the rumors of LeBron James coming to town, the Charlotte Hornets haven’t been talked about nearly as much as they should be. With a great young core, a fantastic draft night behind them, and most importantly, close to $24 million in cap space, there could be quite a rumbling in Buzz City this summer.

While all signs point to another playoff berth next season, the Hornets aren’t quite contenders yet. They have a few areas they must improve, but nothing that a solid FA pickup or two can’t solve. Here are five potential targets for this summer that would help bring Charlotte to contention status.
