The 2014 NBA Draft Lottery was not kind to the Boston Celtics on Tuesday night as the Cleveland Cavaliers’ unexpected jump into the top spot moved the Celtics down to the sixth overall pick. The Celtics, like many other teams hoping to jump into the top three, now have to face the reality of the top tier of prospects being off the board before their name is called on draft night and will begin a month-long assessment of countless players.

The Celtics have already been mentioned as a potential trade candidate for Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star Kevin Love and general manager Danny Ainge also mentioned that he will explore trading the pick immediately after the lottery was drawn. If they do decide to stand pat, the Celtics will still have a number of talented prospects to choose from, let’s take a look at five potential options for the Boston Celtics in 2014 with the sixth pick in the NBA draft.
