The top-seeded San Antonio Spurs couldn’t eliminate the eighth-seeded Dallas Mavericks Friday night, making five first-round series during the 2014 NBA Playoffs go to a winner-take-all Game 7 this weekend.

Dallas won the most important quarters, the first and fourth, with exceptional offensive execution to get a 113-111 victory. San Antonio outscored the Mavericks 29-18 in the third period to turn a six-point deficit into a five-point edge heading to the fourth.

The Spurs however couldn’t keep the lead. After Dirk Nowitzki (22 points on 11-of-20 shooting, began 9-of-13) was unable to put Dallas ahead with 5:31 remaining Monta Ellis‘ 3-pointer with just under five minutes to go put San Antonio behind 94-92 for the first time since Ellis’ driving layup halfway through the third quarter.
