2014-14 Collegiate Stat Line: 26.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, 52% field goals, 45% 3-pointers, 86% free throws
National Player of the Year, top five in all-time scoring in NCAA history and one of the most decorated players in college basketball. There isn’t a lot Doug McDermott hasn’t accomplished in his prolific college career. He led the nation in scoring, became the first player to earn first team All-America honors in three-stright years and gained national attention for his scoring prowess this past season. Now he takes his turn at the pros.
McDermott passed on the NBA last summer to return to Creighton and finish his career with his father-coach. Not only did he boost his draft stock he finished the season sweeping the NPOY awards (first to do so since Jimmer Fredette in 2010-11), finishing with the fifth-most points scored in a career, passing legends such as Larry Bird, Danny Manning and Oscar Robertson along the way. He helped show what a player who stays in school all four years can do for his career.
Now Dougie McBuckets will look to take his talents to the NBA. As a senior he’s automatically eligible for the draft.
