Now that the Phoenix Suns’ season is over, it’s time to take a look back and grade how everyone did in 2013-14. We start with Archie Goodwin today, who played out his rookie season for a surprising Suns team that fell two wins shy of a playoff spot.
With the 29th pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, the Phoenix Suns took a chance on Goodwin, an 18-year-old freshman out of Kentucky who had averaged 14.1 points and 4.6 rebounds per game in his one season with the Wildcats. Any time you’re dealing with a late first round pick, especially in a historically weak draft class, you’re taking a bit of a gamble. But in his extremely limited minutes for the Suns this season, Goodwin rose to the occasion and reinforced the idea that this young team has an extremely bright future.
