Rested Spurs Can’t Avoid Sweep with Victory At Healthy Houston

On the surface Monday San Antonio, with home-court advantage throughout the postseason guaranteed, did not have much to play for and illustrated that finely at the Toyota Center not coming out sharp and not executing in typical Spurs fashion. San Antonio shot a dismal 35 percent from the field during the first half.

The only two things really at stake for the Spurs, who rested Danny Green, Kawhi Leonard, Patty Mills and Tiago Splitter, was tying the 2005-06 San Antonio squad for most victories in franchise history and avoiding a sweep by the Rockets during this year’s regular season.

Houston’s Francisco Garcia and Chandler Parsons returned from injuries while Patrick Beverley and Dwight Howard played for the second straight game after both had been sidelined the prior eight contests. Parsons was one of three Rockets to finish with at least 20 points. Houston was able to attack the paint relentlessly with Leonard and Splitter out.
