Sunday’s win over the Oklahoma City Thunder was a huge morale boost for the Phoenix Suns, who moved into the eighth spot in the Western Conference standings after a stirring home victory. But with five brutal games remaining, the Suns’ work is far from over if the desert Cinderellas want to meet their Prince Charming at the Playoff Ball. And with four of those games coming on the road, Phoenix might have to bribe Fairy Godmother for a little more time so the clock doesn’t strike midnight on the season.

Since every single one of these games is more valuable than cash considerations that Robert Sarver trades draft picks for gold, it’s time to break down what the Suns need to do to get enough wins to qualify for the postseason. I’m putting Phoenix’s magic number for the playoff at four games since they currently have a one-game lead over the Memphis Grizzlies for the eighth seed, but even that might not be enough, so five wins would be ideal (obviously). Here’s a quick breakdown of how the Suns’ season will be decided.
