Daily NBA Fix 3-26-14: Dirk Daggers

In last night’s NBA action, we were treated to a truly fantastic overtime game between the Dallas Mavericks and Oklahoma City Thunder that featured vintage Dirk Nowitzki and MVP Kevin Durant going head-to-head in an all-out slugfest. The New York Knicks not only watched their playoff window close, but they also bolted the locks, slammed the door, turned the key, armed the home security system, turned off all the lights, built a moat and hired a fire-breathing dragon to make sure those playoff hopes couldn’t get anywhere near them. Oh, and the Toronto Raptors and Portland Trail Blazers also put a dent in their playoff seeding.

On today’s Daily NBA Fix, we’ve got game highlights from last night, game summaries, the five best and worst players of the night and the Goose Egg, Clean and Sober and Ironman Awards. We’ll also be taking a look at who’s circling the drain, we’ll throw in some random tidbits, we’ll take a look at the NBA schedule and we’ll even throw in the daily lines with some predictions for the gamblers out there.

Check out the video highlights first and then start on the game capsules (home team in CAPS).

This was a great game. OKC has played better without Westbrook than with him this season. Interesting dynamic because Durant clearly plays better when he’s more aggressive, and Reggie Jackson is a better PG than Westbrook. He may not be as talented or athletic, but he functions more like a PG. Westbrook plays out of position. He should be a SG IMO. You don’t put the ball in the hand of someone who shoots more than anyone else in the NBA when you have Kevin Durant.
