Spurs Take Another Step Toward Franchise Record 17 Straight Victories

San Antonio conversely closed in on their own franchise history. From Feb. 29-March 31, 1996, the Spurs stretched their winning streak to 17 games. That was before the arrival of Duncan, Ginobili and Parker.

“The Admiral,” David Robinson, then held down the fort and remains a regular in the crowd at San Antonio’s home games. The Spurs, winners of 10 straight at the AT&T Center, have four times prior had an overall winning streak end at 13.

The Sixers were hoping history would repeat itself Monday sort of. Philadelphia snapped one of the Spurs’ 13-game win streaks and halted their own nine-game slide in the Alamo City Jan. 3, 2004.

By beating Philadelphia (2-27 in San Antonio since 1984) on Monday the Spurs have now taken six consecutive meetings in the series and look to extend their 14-game winning streak to 15 and 16 versus the Denver Nuggets who they play on Wednesday in San Antonio and Friday in Denver.
