As the playoff dream looks to have slowly faded away from what began as a season of promise, the Minnesota Timberwolves find themselves mired in the mediocrity of the middle of the standings. With little chance of climbing up to the eighth seed in the West and even less chance of falling into a high lottery pick, the Timberwolves are what they are. Having spent the days prior to the trade deadline searching to tweak the roster for a hopeful playoff push the Timberwolves are now resigned to fighting on without reinforcement. Rumors of Kevin Love‘s impending departure continue to swirl and the debate is swiftly shifting to “What can they can get for him?” instead of “Will he stay or will he go?”

The grand plans for this season may have been mislaid but the truth is there is still work to be done and games to be played. So with the future in mind, here’s what I’m looking out for during the last third of the Timberwolves’ season.
