With every team in the league save for three (Brooklyn, Denver and Memphis have played 40 games) at the halfway point of their respective schedule, it’s time to take a look back at my preseason predictions for each team.

With that out of the way, how has HoopsHabit.com’s intrepid power ranker done through half a season? We’ll look first at what I’ve gotten right in the NBA Power Rankings to this point:

Nothin’ But Net (preseason prediction matches current ranking):

2. San Antonio Spurs
8. Golden State Warriors
17. Washington Wizards
20. New Orleans Pelicans

Shooter’s Bounce (pick is within one or two positions either direction, with their current ranking in parentheses):

3. Indiana Pacers (1)
4. Oklahoma City Thunder (3)
6. Los Angeles Clippers (7)
12. Minnesota Timberwolves (13)
13. Denver Nuggets (14)
19. Detroit Pistons (21)
21. Los Angeles Lakers (23)
25. Boston Celtics (26)
30. Philadelphia 76ers (28)

Now we get to the less fun sections …

Off The Iron (pick missed by three to five positions either direction, with current ranking in parentheses):

1. Miami Heat (5)
10. Houston Rockets (6)
14. Atlanta Hawks (11)
15. Dallas Mavericks (10)
24. Utah Jazz (27)
26. Orlando Magic (29)

Airrrrrrrrr-ballllllllll (fairly self-explanatory)

5. Chicago Bulls (16)
7. Brooklyn Nets (18)
9. Memphis Grizzlies (15)
11. New York Knicks (24)
16. Portland Trail Blazers (4)
18. Cleveland Cavaliers (25)
22. Toronto Raptors (12)
23. Milwaukee Bucks (30)
27. Charlotte Bobcats (19)
28. Sacramento Kings (22)
29. Phoenix Suns (9)

I’m going to hazard a guess that most preseason rankings would stack up similarly. But I like accountability, so there you go, readers. Feel free to flame away in the comments section.

As always, when citing team statistics (which come from NBA.com), any team that is in the top or bottom five of the league for the last seven days will be noted. Player stats are also just for the last week.
