The 2013 year ended with some good wins, one at home vs. the Miami Heat, and then they went on the road and beat the Rockets in Houston. However, the start to the 2014 year feels like it could be rock bottom for the Sacramento Kings. They have lost two straight games at home to Eastern Conference teams that are 14 games under .500 on the season. Furthermore, in their last eight games they are giving up 111.7, well above the 104.5 points they usually give up per game. Right now the Kings are a season low 12 games under .500, and actually have the least amount of wins in the Western Conference at 10.

In addition, the Kings are currently are struggling with chemistry, they are many reports of infighting in the locker room. After the most recent loss Cousins really went off on his teammates. He said, “We’re a team full of excuses, guys on pity parties. Guys wanting you to feel sorry for them.  We’ve got nothing we can complain about.  Our job is to play hard, and we won’t even go out and do that.” It was pretty straightforward and in some cases very true for this team, there is little effort on defense from time to time. It will be interesting to see how the Kings handle this infighting, it could blow up even more and end really, really bad, or they could come together and make it work.
