Cleveland Cavaliers Weekly: Cavs Extend Losing Streak to 5
Thursday, Dec 26 vs. Hawks, Loss 127-125 (2OT)
You would expect the Cavaliers to win most games when Kyrie Irving scores 40 points or more; however, Irving’s 40 points against the Hawks was not enough to deliver a victory for the Cavaliers. They fell at home to Atlanta 127-125 in double overtime, with the Hawks riding Jeff Teague’s 34 points and 14 rebounds to victory. The fourth year guard from Wake Forest also added three rebounds and three steals. The Hawks wore away at the Cavs’ defense by knocking down 11 three pointers and shooting 49.5 percent as a team.
The Hawks defense was not spectacular either. Along with Irving, Tristan Thompson and Dion Waiters, off the bench, both scored at least 20 points. Still, they never let the Cavs pull away and as the clock ticked down to end the second overtime, Teague drilled the game winning basket, giving Atlanta the victory.
