OK, so that title might be a little bit of an exaggeration, but the Atlanta Hawks remain above water in the swamp that is the Eastern Conference. Atlanta (11-10) is one of only three teams, along with the Indiana Pacers and the Miami Heat, currently above .500 in the conference. In a week where there was plenty of talk about the disparity between the two conferences this season, the Hawks were matched up against two Western powerhouse’s.
Monday saw head coach Mike Budenholzer take his Hawks team to San Antonio for the first time since his departure from the Spurs coaching staff. The Hawks returned from Texas to host their former player Doc Rivers and his Clippers side in Philips Arena on Wednesday night. Before the week would finish up at home on Friday, with a momentous evening for the Hawks against the Cavaliers at “The Highlight Factory”.
The week would finish out at 2-1 for the Hawks, with the team playing by far their best basketball in a number of weeks. With two home games, and all three within the East this week, Atlanta will look to continue and build upon their good play.
