Daily NBA Fix 11-27-13: John Wall Has Risen, Warriors Survive

We’ve known for three years that John Wall is one of the fastest and most athletic guards in the NBA. Still, he wasn’t looked at as being in the same league as the elite guards. After posting his third consecutive 30-point game and giving us a jaw-dropping 360-degree dunk for the highlight reel, Wall has risen. Welcome to the Daily NBA Fix for Wednesday, November 27.

Tuesday’s Results (home team in CAPS)

Orlando Magic 109, ATLANTA HAWKS 92

Highlight Factory For Lease – The Magic turned a four-point deficit at half into a 12-point lead after the third quarter en route to a blowout win in Atlanta. Arron Afflalo scored 26, Nikola Vucevic scored 12 with 15 rebounds and Andrew Nicholson added 18 and eight rebounds off the bench. The Hawks got 15 from Jeff Teague and Al Horford, but were lackadaisical most of the second half.

Golden State Warriors 102, NEW ORLEANS PELICANS 101

Gotta Get Lucky – Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good. The Pelicans got a wide open Eric Gordon 3-point attempt at the buzzer that rimmed out. The Warriors were led by Klay Thompson, who scored 22 points with eight assists. Stephen Curry had a near triple-double, with 16 points, eight rebounds, nine assists and three steals. Jermaine O’Neal shot 9-for-12 for 18 points. The Pelicans got 21 points and 12 rebounds from Ryan Anderson off the bench.

Brooklyn Nets 102, TORONTO RAPTORS 100

Something Completely Different – The Nets won a basketball game. That’s news right there. Andray Blatche continued his solid start, with 24 points, five rebounds, two steals and two blocks. Joe Johnson added 21, six rebounds and four assists for the Nets, who played without Deron Williams and Brook Lopez again.  The Raptors got 27 from DeMar DeRozan and 24 from Kyle Lowry in the loss.

WASHINGTON WIZARDS 116, Los Angeles Lakers 111

Elite Wall – John Wall scored 31 points with six rebounds, nine assists and three steals, making up for the loss of Bradley Beal for a few weeks. Nene Hilario scored 30, Martell Webster added 20 and four steals and the Wizards shot 52.9 percent as a team. The Lakers got 22 points and eight assists from Jordan Farmar off the bench, but they turned it over six more times and scored eight less points from the free-throw line.

Nightly Goose Egg Award

Tonight’s Goose Egg goes to Mr. Mirza Teletovic, who played 21:15 minutes and didn’t score a point. He hid add five rebounds, so he wasn’t completely horrid.

Nightly Clean and Sober Award

Our apologies for a weak winner today, but John Jenkins takes the Clean and Sober award for playing 3:32 without taking a shot. He took his time seriously, as he didn’t record a single stat.

Circling The Drain

30. Utah Jazz (2-14)
29. Milwaukee Bucks (2-11)
28. New York Knicks (3-10)
