Season Outlook:

Just as quickly as it started, the Linsanity era is over. Carmelo Anthony looks primed to make himself a MVP candidate and Amare Stoudemire should make it to camp fully healthy.

The big key will be the play of Raymond Felton. If he can return to his form of two years ago, his last run with the Knicks, they will be a tough team to contend with. If he looks more like the player that bombed with the Denver Nuggets and Portland Trail Blazers, they’ll be in trouble.

They brought in a lot of veterans to help this team win a championship, but I don’t see a lot of value. Jason Kidd is way past his prime and Kurt Thomas will be a non-factor. Marcus Camby will help in small doses and they’re hoping Ronny Brewer can be a defensive stopper.

Best-Case Scenario:

Carmelo Anthony wins the MVP award and leads the Knicks to the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference. They get a second-round match with the Boston Celtics and pull off a big upset, only to run into (and lose to) the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Worst-Case Scenario:

Raymond Felton plays as bad as he did in 2011-12 and the New York Knicks look old and lost. Anthony can only do so much and Stoudemire continues his statistical decline. The Knicks sneak into the playoffs as the No. 8 seed and get thrashed by the Miami Heat in round one.
